However we are running close to resource depletion, and the efforts we have made to achieve a sustainable society thus far have been little more than half-hearted. In order to achieve true sustainability businesses and governments need to accept their responsibility to re-write all of the preceding laws that have allowed us to get into this mess in the first place. In order for the species, and the ecosystem to survive, we need to make a new mindset, one that is focused upon sustainability, and that is willing to incorporate drastic changes to the way we do business at the microcosmic level, as well as at the global level.
Businesses around the world need to re-write their operating principles and work towards restoring the global ecosystem, ensuring that customers and employees are focused upon healthy living, and that operations have little or minimal effect upon the local environment. They need to operate in a way that will not harm the global ecosystem, nor the local environment. They need to make new decisions about how they and their employees consume food and water, how they manage transport, how the recycle, and above all, how they use energy.
